Apple Acknowledges Siri Leadership Has Officially Moved From Eddy Cue To Craig Federighi (macrumors.com) 52
An anonymous reader shares a report: Apple has updated its executive leadership page to acknowledge that software engineering chief Craig Federighi now officially oversees development of Siri. The responsibility previously belonged to Apple's services chief Eddy Cue. "Craig Federighi is Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering, reporting to CEO Tim Cook. Craig oversees the development of iOS, macOS, and Siri. His teams are responsible for delivering the software at the heart of Apple's innovative products, including the user interface, applications and frameworks," Apple says. Apple's leadership page is only now reflecting Federighi's role as head of Siri, but the transition has been apparent for several months, based on recent interviews and stage appearances at Apple's keynotes.

You should learn more about who Craig Federighi [wikipedia.org] is. He's extremely accomplished in the field of software development.
But more importantly, he's widely considered to be one of the most beautiful people in the computing industry today. You can see a photo of him here. [apple.com] He's got a strong, manly look that other men respect. But he's also got that sophisticated, yet tough, appearance that women adore. The combination of his great physical appearance, his confidence, and his knowledge of the craft make him a powerhouse in the world of software development.
I think you'd have to mix at least Linus Torvalds, Bjarne Stroustrup, Donald Knuth, Dwayne Johnson, and George Clooney together to get a man as strong, good-looking, confident and well-rounded as Craig Federighi is.

Why lie? I've seen more than a dozen people try it, again since I work for a company that makes voice-controlled equipment, and I have never seen it work. We do this for a living. It does not work. The Apple fanbois resort to lying to protect Apple

When you say it doesn't "understand" something, is it not understanding what you want to do or something else?
For example, if I just mutter into Siri, it will show what words it thinks I'm saying and will try to make sense of them.
You'll see them show up. ("Pearl for the for the for?" "Macgruder Holbrook?" "Who phone phone phone?")
However, if I clearly say, "Navigate to" and then mutter something, it try to make sense of it ("Navigate to Aruba?" "Navigate to Hoover Woman Ever?" "Navigate to Poopoo poop

What's the name of YOUR company? Care to let some Slashdotter's test YOUR products' Voice Recognition capabilities of completely arbitrary, natural-language requests, with ZERO training or speaker-dependence?

I just tried both phrases, and in both cases, it pulled up Apple Maps with a Route highlighted.
Why LIE for such an easily-demonstrable example?
It even works with a "shortcut" Destination label like "Home", as in "Navigate to Home".
You might tell your co-workers to stop trying to ask Siri to "Navigate to 'My Butt' ", and similar nonsensical locations.

Um, considering their well-deserved reputation as one of the prime movers and shakers in consumer high tech, and their undeniable ability to generate "Clicks" on Slashdot, I would imagine that Slashdot's Editorial Board came up with the idea to add apple.slashdot.org all on their own.
Not to mention the fact that almost all hosting services allow the creation of unlimited virtual subdomains for free... Or maybe you've never registered a domain and created a website...

Navigation is actually literally the only thing it works well for for me. Most of the artists/albums I listen to have too odd of names for it to do anything useful for music.
It's a shame, because navigation and music are the only things that I would consistently use it for. Those are also the main valuable features of my apple watch tbh.
Google is lightyears ahead on this one. Honestly the only thing I miss from android.
