Journal after5's Journal: On being sick. 4

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

I had no apples.

I had fred flintstone.

Fred failed.

So I got sick whilst in mockba, I didn't sleep on the plane, so I was awake for 30+ hours. Combined with about 4-5 hours of sleep per night just drained my immune system to the point that I got a bug. Oh yeah, food in Moscow wasn't that healthy, so that contributed. Budapest though, that's a city to cheer you up. Walking around, sunshine, great food. (massages, even though I didn't go to a spa) In all I was sick for less than 4 days, but I don't want to go through that again. Last night here in Prague I slept for about 9 hours, that felt great. My body was terribly confused that I was not crawling out of bed at 6am, I just told it to be quiet and that we were going to sleep until 8, it behaved accordingly.

Everyone complains about the beds here, being too hard and not being able to sink into them. Pish posh! They're absolutely wonderful, soft beds tick me off.

(Also in Europe they have this strange practice of wrapping the comforter in a sheet. Consequently you only have one rather thick blanket. I heat that sucker up in 2 minutes, that's the only rough part about sleeping over here.)

It seems so strange that I've only been gone 12 days, it seems like forever almost. We will have travelled to 5 countries in 2 weeks. Come Thursday only Italy and France shall remain, and then Oxford, time is certainly a strange beast. Both fast and slow, never doing what is expected of it, always confusing. Hmm...time is female.

  • wow, your stories are great! i must say they are quite amuzing. i especially love the one about the duckclub, the naked women, the naked man, and the banana...oh wait, you haven't told that one yet!! i miss you, and i'll miss calling you zebra feet, perhaps i'll call you socks instead or maybe paws...we'll see. but count on me calling you something cuz i'm still melatonin deficient. i'm glad you are enjoying yourself. that's what's important...and that you get something really cool for your sibling. anyway, i'll converse towards you later.
  • I am soooo glad you are enjoying the experiences, taking advantages of the opportunities, and documenting your travels, feelings, beliefs, and expanding the meaning of "trivia"....I was concerned that we would never hear from you but alas it was just a temporary lull in the generation and transmission of the electrons...thank you for taking the time and energy to document your thoughts, experiences, and impressions...it is fun reading (do I detect a book deal in the future...maybe "Where in the European Environment is Jason?"

What is this stuff about beating the body parts...hopefully you are not blooding the new and expensive clothes (travel smith type stuff...sorry, this is the "Bill Paying Papa" coming out in me). But alas, at least you are making use of the travel smith items, they are paying their way, and they are even useable by someone who is close to your size (ahem, yes, your adoring Papa). Keep your spirits high (no, not the glass containing spirits..keep that one off you list of things to do, see, experience, etc)..I am talking about your expectations, realizations, temptations, and stomach undulations (ahhhhh, that hurt). Enjoy, and have fun....Love, The Papa
  • I hope you find some more Fred Flintstone soon. I don't want you getting sick. Because if you are sick, how are you supposed to pick out a nice gift for your sister?! Yes time is female, which means don't mess with it and it won't mess with you. I've been thinking more and more about what I want to do with my life. And all I can come up with is a socialite. Do you think I am setting my standards too high? Love you, miss you, buy me something!
  • If you happen to need any kind of vitamin you know I have a decent supply...

Some people pray for more than they are willing to work for.
