Apple Keeps Fortnite in App Store Limbo 27

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said Thursday that Apple has "neither accepted nor rejected" Fortnite's second App Store submission, potentially delaying the game's major update planned for Friday.

Epic initially submitted Fortnite on May 9 following Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers' order for Apple to comply with the original 2021 injunction. After five days without response, Epic withdrew and resubmitted to accommodate the upcoming update. While Apple's guidelines state 90% of submissions are reviewed within 24 hours, this silence is unprecedented.

The legal context remains complex -- the judge's original ruling didn't require Apple to reinstate Fortnite, as she determined Epic had willingly violated agreed-upon rules. Meanwhile, Sweeney is actively pointing out on X that Fortnite knock-offs are flooding the App Store.

Apple is just conducting an experiment. The app is both approved and denied until you observe it.

And they are all equally as trash as Fortnite is. No one cares Tim.

Malicious compliance. Uhmm ... allegedly. They can say that they are not blocking it, but that it's merely in "the queue". It doesn't matter if it's "unprecedented". 3x WTC buildings collapsing due to "office fires" was also unprecedented, yet no one should ever question it.

You know you've gone far down the rabbit hole when a normie can't even tell specifically what conspiracy theory you are trying to plug. I'm just gonna go with XKCD's "jet fuel can't melt steel beams but what about the stuff used for chemtrails".

Not a theory. A fact. Never before in history has a skyscraper ever collapsed at freefall speed due to an office fire. Yet, 3 buildings all did on the same day. Amazing. One of them, WTC7, was a block away and wasn't even hit by a plane. It's unprecedented (therefore no need to question it, trust us bro). Similarly Apple is also saying the hold up is unprecedented, therefore trust us bro, don't question it.

One day, say yes. The next day, say no. The day after, declare war and then make kissy faces 24 hours later. After that, triple your prices, then cut them right back. The week after, claim space aliens are controlling us through vaccines. Right after that, explain to the world that you're a genius. Meanwhile, make sure all your good employees quit, claim "savings" and blame any problems on the last boss.

Really, really annoying, ain't it? Can't imagine where they learned this behavior....

Wait, what happened to the aliens in between? Did the Jews shoot them with their space laser?

  • Nah, it's not, it's the typical Apple-fuckery a lot of developers tell tales about. It's like their customer service - if they don't want to, they hang you out to dry.
  • Absolutely butthurt and transparent as hell what they're doing. If they really wanted to sink the company, roll out and OS-wide "AI assistant" that aims for you. That'd be the end of the game.

Did anyone expect anything except pettiness and malicious compliance from Apple?

They know the only way they can keep people is to make moving away from Apple services and hardware as difficult and painful as possible.
