Apple Updates iPod 689
TheRaven64 writes "Apple seems to have quietly updated the iPod Photo and iPod Mini lines. The Mini now comes in 4GB and 6GB flavours, priced at $199 and $249 respectively. The iPod Photo now comes in a 30GB flavour for $349 - only $50 more than the 20GB iPod with a mono screen and shorter battery life."

For people into digital photography, a 60gb iPod Photo + a digital camera is perfect when you are on the go and need to store all your pictures.
Ohh and before you ask, whats so different about this one then the other accessories. Well this one lets you check out the pictures on the iPod itself while the other accessories don't.

apple tends to underestimate battery life, not the other way 'round. The original mini was billed as having 8 hrs of life, but various tests showed some would consistently last 9 or 10 hrs. so if apple claims 18, i wouldn't be surprised to see 20 or so hours of actual playback.

I think it's just to have, really. The color screen does look a LOT better under different light situations than the normal LCD, plus, at a higher resolution it's even more readable. You could say that they decided to put photos on it as a result of going to a more readable screen instead of the other way around. PLUS, if you're giving a presentation and you're having problems with your other equipment, you can always fall back on your iPod photo.

Imported photos are immediately viewable on iPod photo's crisp color screen, and can also be brought back to iPhoto(R) on the Mac or various photo applications on the PC. The iPod Camera Connector is expected to be available in late March for $29."
