I really wish people who quote 1984 would take some time to actually read it.
Doublethink, censorship, an oppressive layer of surveillance, newspeak. It's all here. It's only a matter of time before Alexa is the unwitting new telescreen.

That's an interesting argument. "This isn't like 1984 because the full imposition hasn't yet been completed."

Wake me up when the government forces an Alexa on every home. Until then, please stop comparing home appliances with state surveillance.

I prefer Animal Farm, seems it still fits the bill as a contemporary satire.
